Sand and Finish
Much of what we do is sanding and finishing of existing hardwood floors. We can restore those floors and make them look like new. Whether they are covered with carpet, or just beat up looking, most floors can be brought back to life with a good sand and finish. We offer both traditional Swedish Finish, and the new Low VOC Water Based formulas. Whatever you decide, we assure you will be thrilled with the finished product. We constantly hear from our customers that they cannot believe how good their floors look after we are finished with them.
We can also do most any repairs, whether a wall was moved or there is extensive pet or water damage, we can lace in new flooring and make it look like it never happened. Additionally, we can supply you with new material if you want to add on to your existing floor. Since we are full service, we can remove and dispose of your existing flooring, a service many Sand and Finish companies refuse to do. Whether you have carpet now or sheet vinyl, it does not matter, our experienced crews are experts at carefully removing your old floors and installing new.
Prefinished Hardwood
We can supply and install all major brands of pre-finished hardwood flooring. We have extensive experience installing both nail down and floating floors. Solid nail down floors are appropriate if your substrate is wood or plywood. Having them nailed down is one of the most permanent types of installation, and is preferred because the wood is seen as a permanent part of the house. Most solid pre-finished floors can also be re-finished many times, unlike some less expensive engineered or laminate floors. With a pre-finished floor, you also get an exceptionally thick wear layer that will last many years, some come with warranties as long as 25 years.
Some of the brands that we recommend are:
Mirage Hardwood Floors
Kentwood Hardwood Floors
Teragren Solid Bamboo
Artisan Hardwood Floors
Wood Flooring International
Hartco Hardwood
Homerwood Hardwoods
Most of the products on the market today are good quality, there have been a few that we would definitely not recommend, before you decide to buy, feel free to contact us and ask us what we think. Since most of what we do is provide installation services, we do not push any particular brand, so we can offer non-biased advice on your purchase. It is a shame to see someone invest thousands of dollars into their home and not be happy with the end result. Save time and money by checking with us first!
Cork and Bamboo Floors
Many homeowners today are concerned about the impact on the environment their choices make. One way to lessen the negative impact is by choosing renewable or "green" choices. Cork and bamboo are two such choices. Bamboo is a fast becoming a popular choice, not only it is durable, but it has a unique look that is quickly gaining popularity. It has also become one of the most affordable types of hard surface flooring, you can actually have a prefinished bamboo floor installed for around $5.00 per square foot, that is less than half of some hardwoods.
Teragren Solid Bamboo
Cork is also a good choice for a renewable floor. Cork is harvested from the Cork Oak tree. It is actually the bark of the tree that is carefully removed, so the tree continues to live. The bark is then sliced into thin sheets and made into flooring. Cork floors have a bit of a give to them, this makes them popular kitchens.

Floating Floors
Floating Floors are appropriate over concrete or gipcrete substrates, or in areas where sound transmissions can be an issue, such as in a condominium or apartment. They are called floating floors because they are not actually nailed or glued to the sub-strate, but they attach together like a puzzle, and "float" over a thin pad. The fact they are not nailed down and that there is a pad between them and the floor is what restricts sound transmission. There are different thicknesses of pad, some are better for sound and some are better for insulation from the cold. We can recommend the best type of pad for your project.
Some of the brands we recommend are:

Linoleum Floors
Believe it or not, linoleum is making a comeback! Due in part to it's durability, low impact on the environment and retro look, people are re-discovering real linoleum. Linoleum differs from vinyl floors in that it is a natural product made from linseed oil, cork, sawdust and resin. Since it is a natural product, it has a unique look and warm feel, it also smells great!
The leading manufacturer of real linoleum is Forbo, the makers of Marmoleum. It is available in sheer goods, tiles, and a new floating floor. Linoleum is a very durable product, but must be installed by an experienced professional; this is not a do-it-yourself product.
Armstrong flooring also has a line of linoleum sold under the Marmorette brand name. It is very similar in construction to marmoleum and is installed in the same manner. Both floors are suitable anywhere in the home; they have even started using them as countertop material.
