Solid Prefinished Treads and Risers

This job is located on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle

For this job, we  removed the esisting carpet and installed a solid  2 1/4″ Prefinished white oak flooring.  The customers did not want to leave the house for the project, so a prefinished wood was the way to go.  We also installed matching pre-finished solid oak treads and risers on the staircase.  Solid treads are a much better way to go than using just the flooring material and stair nosing, not only does it look better, but it is much stronger over time.

Both the floor and stairs could be refinished many times, but  most prefinished floors should last at least 20 years before you would need to do that.

Shaw Handscraped Stained Hickory Hardwood

This house is located in Medina.

We removed the existing wall to wall carpet and underneath was a light weigh concrete floor.  Since we could not nail down the wood, we decided to use the full spread glue down method.  This made it feel just like a nail down floor and it will never develop any squeeks.  We also stained the existing hardwood floors to match this color.

Strand Woven Tiger Bamboo

This house is located in North Seattle.

We installed this Strand Woven Tiger Bamboo over the customers existing vinyl floor.  This house was built on a concrete slab, so we used floating installation method.  After we were done, we installed matching Tiger Baseboard to match.  Strand Woven Bamboo is about 3 times harder than regular bamboo so it is much more resistant to denting and wear.  This style of bamboo is also available in a nail down version for installations over wood subfloors.

Pike Place Market Before and After

We had the privilege of refinishing the floors just outside the Sound View Cafe in the Pike Place Market.  The restaurant had a water leak, so we had to replace a few boards and refinish the surrounding area.  Most of the floors in the market are either Maple or Fir.  The fir floors we refinished turned out beautiful.  We used a hybrid finish which consisted of an Alcohol Sealer and Glitsa Max Satin.  The alcohol sealer is very low VOC and gives the floor the rich color, and the two part Glitsa Water Based finish is a durable satin with virtually no odor.
